About Kevyn.
Kevyn Burger is an award winning broadcaster who has worked in radio and television for more than three decades. As a television journalist, Kevyn worked for 25 years at network affiliated television stations in Columbus, Detroit, Dallas/Fort Worth, and, for most of her career, in Minneapolis/St Paul. Known as a strong writer and a unique on-camera performer, Kevyn has worked as a reporter, an investigative journalist, anchor and newscast and segment producer. For her efforts, she has earned numerous local, state and national awards, including three regional Emmies and two national Gracie awards.
Kevyn has also worked on-camera as a show host. She was a regular guest host of the “Good Company” show on KSTP in the 80s and 90s and was the creator and host of “Buy Smart,” which ran for two seasons on HGTV. She also hosted “KTCA Reports,” a weekly prime time public affairs show, on channel 2.
Most recently, Kevyn spent six years as host and producer of her own radio program on WFMP in Minneapolis-St. Paul, the nation’s only talk radio station targeted specifically at women. In this non-news format, Kevyn chatted with guests, including authors, newsmakers and high profile personalities, but most often, she conversed with her female listeners about relationships, parenting, entertainment and a quirky mix of topics of interest to women — aging, weight, sexism, technology, communication. Kevyn developed a loyal following of listeners who came to her program for her unique personality and humorous take on life. While at WFMP, Kevyn earned three national AWRT Gracie awards for her work promoting breast cancer awareness.
At WFMP, Kevyn also helped conceive and produce the Women’s Wellness Series. This quarterly two hour broadcast focused on a specific health issue, including anxiety, sleep disorders, pelvic health, heart disease and cancer. As host of the program, Kevyn interviewed medical professionals on stage, then interacted with an auditorium audience of several hundred to take questions and share information.
Kevyn also worked with the radio sales staff to find, develop and solidify relationships with advertising clients. Kevyn’s clients who utilized her personal endorsements got consistently strong results. An excellent copywriter, Kevyn wrote and voiced ads for her clients that appeared throughout the broadcast schedule.
Kevyn’s special strength is connecting with women listeners and viewers. From her television consumer reports on saving money to her daily connection with radio fans, she has spent a career creating and developing content that is meaningful and relatable to women.
Kevyn attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and needs about another year of college to complete her bachelor’s degree. She is the mother of three, two college students and a middle schooler. She is an avid biker, a pretty good cook, a Libra and a breast cancer survivor. Kevyn promises not to refer to herself in the third person when you meet.
